Description

The Zinnia Luminosa Flower Seeds are the seeds for cultivating Zinnia elegans, a resilient annual plant within the Asteraceae family, known for its bright, multicolored blooms and suitability for garden beds, containers, and borders. The seeds produce plants that typically reach a height of 18 to 24 inches, with a spread of approximately 12 to 18 inches, making them suitable for various garden layouts and landscape designs.

These Zinnia Luminosa flowers thrive in well-drained, loamy, sandy, or rich soils with a pH range of 5.5 to 7.5. They prefer full sun exposure, requiring at least six hours of direct sunlight daily, and germinate at soil temperatures between 70°F to 75°F. Seeds should be planted 1/4 inch deep, spaced 12 to 18 inches apart. Seeds typically germinate within 5 to 7 days under optimal conditions, with flowering occurring approximately 60 to 70 days after sowing.

In horticultural practice, Zinnia Luminosa Flower Seeds are suited for planting during spring and summer. These plants are highly drought-tolerant, deer resistant, and resistant to common garden pests and diseases such as powdery mildew and aphids. They can withstand varying weather conditions, including heat and drought, making them low-maintenance options for various climates, especially zones 2-11. The seeds are ideal for gardeners seeking vibrant flowers that attract pollinators, including bees and butterflies, thereby promoting biodiversity.

Included in each package are sufficient seeds for multiple planting sites; seed counts vary by pack size. Notably, the package does not include planting tools, fertilizers, or soil amendments. For best results, consistent watering—avoiding waterlogging—and regular deadheading will promote continuous flowering throughout the growing season. Fertilization with a balanced fertilizer every four to six weeks can enhance bloom production. Care instructions recommend keeping the soil moist but not saturated and providing full sun exposure for optimal growth and flowering.

    Safe Seed Pledge

    OUR PLEDGE TO YOU

Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations.

For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative. We pledge to you that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants.  The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political, and cultural threats.

We wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately healthy people and communities.

We do not buy - OR - grow any seed from large corporations that make Genetically Engineered seeds.  We don't touch that stuff and we never will.

The seeds we offer aren't like varieties you'd typically find at a garden center.

Every variety we offer is 100% OP (open-pollinated).  Open-pollination means that you can safely save the seed after harvest and preserve a collection of heirloom seed for many generations to come.

To make it perfectly clear ... Our seeds do not contain any exogenously inserted embryogenesis deactivator genes caused by human intervention.
